As a person ages, common oral problems occur. The elderly are the ones suffering from these problems and as a proof, almost all of them do not anymore have even a single natural tooth (there are exceptions to the rule).
People from all ages can have dental implants. As long as you have healthy gums & teeth bones, and not a smoker, you are highly qualified to undergo this dental procedure. If your teeth bones have deteriorated, no worries! You can have bone grafting first before having implants. Smokers too do have another choice that is somewhat synonymous to dental implants, and that is, fixed dentures. These dentures are cemented on the gums of the person, so you don’t have to put denture adhesives everyday!

What is bone grafting? Is this method effective? Is this procedure recommended? These questions are running on my mind right now, so I did a little self-help and searched for the answers to it.
In the academe, bone grafting is under Dental Implantology. It is a medical procedure wherein a bone from the patient’s body will be surgically removed to be placed on his or her upper or lower teeth (where bone deterioration and/or loss are prevalent). Tooth loss may contribute to the “thinning” of the bone and so bone grafting allows dental implants to be made possible on the person’s teeth.

Costly medical procedures in the US and Canada pushes some patients to seek medical care in other countries that offer the same services for a cheaper price. Surgical procedures, plust the cost of travel and accomodations, in countries such as Singapore and Thailand are available at as much as one-third the price of operations in the US.
Dental tourism is one portion of medical tourism that is growing in many parts of the world. Packages include round trip tickets, hotel accommodations, the dental procedure and other services that may be offered by the hotel or resort. Countries that have accredited dental tourism practitioners include Costa Rica, Mexico, Panama, Philippines, Portugal, and Ukraine.

All of us do dream to have white, complete and perfectly aligned teeth. However, due to our food and lifestyle, bacteria from the food we eat cause our teeth to yellow and plaque to form, that may result to cavity if left untreated.
It is ideal to have natural teeth, but that remains to be a “utopian” dream since tooth decay can never be avoided. Science has made it possible for people to have artificial teeth if their natural ones have decayed. A lot of dental procedures are available today if people wish to replace their lost teeth. Such procedures include veneers, implants and bridging among others.

After going through the long process of having a dental implant, the life of your implant will last if you take good care of it. The Mayo Clinic clearly provides what you need to do:
Practice exceptional oral hygiene. Keep your new teeth clean. There are special brushes that slides between teeth to help clean the teeth, gums and metal abutments.
See your dentist regularly. Dental checkups should be scheduled every sis months for the dentist to properly monitor the condition of your overall oral health, and the proper functioning of the implant.
Avoid damaging habits. Chewing of hard food items such as candies must be avoided as it can break the crown whether your teeth is natural or an implant. Also avoid tobacco, caffeine and other tooth-staining products. Those who grind their teeth should seek treatment.
